Dolphin search

If you are thinking of watching wild dolphins in the Brač and Hvar Channels, this is one of the better areas in the central Adriatic for occasional encounters with a good chance of success, although they can never be guaranteed.
Your chances are best:
* early in the morning (from sunrise to around 9 am),
* late evening (around 6 pm to sunset),
* when the sea is calm and without a strong maestral wind,
* in the more open area between Brač and Hvar, where the dolphins often feed on fish.
In recent years, a larger pod of bottlenose dolphins has been recorded in the Hvar Channel several times, including a group of about twenty individuals between Brač and Hvar.
If you want to increase your chances, there are organized excursions that specifically look for dolphins in their natural habitat.Book here!
When encountering dolphins, it is important to follow the rules of responsible observation:
* do not chase dolphins,
* keep a distance of at least 50 meters,
* do not cross their path,
* reduce the speed of the boat and let them decide for themselves whether they want to approach.
